Pitch. Black. Darkness.

My eyes attempt to adjust, yet see nothing. I am engulfed in complete blackness. Not even a hint of light can be seen. My eyes are wide open but there is nothing in front of me. Nothing I can see.

I am petrified. Uncontrollably shaking. Huddled in a corner of my bedroom. There is no escape. There is nothing I can do. He is coming for me. Because I know the truth. Because I know of his existence.

Choices in the VoidIt was Career Day. But by the time you reach high school, Career Day doesn’t excite you anymore. Maybe if the firemen still came around and let you climb on their fire engine, it’d be a little more—oh I dunno, robust. And to be clear, I meant that statement the way it sounded.

But yeah, it was Career Day. Looking around at all the different booths, I just get kind of depressed thinking about how I’m going to have to choose something soon. Voice in the StreetsThe voice rang out clearly through the crowded street. It was strong, echoing off buildings and tumbling into the ears of all those that gathered. It was late afternoon and many workers were changing shifts. The streets were crowded with men, women, and children, and they all seemed at least quietly interested in the speech. Some looked uneasy, as if they shouldn’t be caught listening, yet couldn’t quite convince themselves to leave the premise. Others perked with true interest, moving ever so slowly towards the makeshift stage that the speaker had claimed for his address.

One such individual was a visitor to Boston. He showed noVoice in the Streets by ~TakadaSaiko

     "No, Astartes, we are not being followed."

     "How can you be sure? You didn't even look!" Astartes whined. Struggling to turn in the saddle behind his father, Astartes craned his neck to look back through the night. The dirt track meandered this way and that, winding through the Emberfen Forest. The path was hard to make out amongst the muddy browns of the woodland, made all the more difficult by the thick canopy obscuring the glow of the stars and moon overhead.

CHAPTER ONE: ChildhoodSo, after my unconventional and hazardous birth, I was raised kind of normally. Emphasis on the 'kind of'. I mean, what's normal anyway? Does anyone have an answer?

No, I didn't think so.

We didn't have much in the means of finances, but we survived pretty well. We stayed in that apartment for another four years, until my dad had done enough extra shifts at the servo to put aside enough money for a house deposit. We moved to the outskirts of the same suburb, to a small, two-bedroom house. It was all we needed, and we learnt to love its flaws – whilst also hating them. Anyone interested in a contest?

It's an idea I have been pondering for awhile (I have some ideas) but I wasn't sure how well one would be received. I mean we have a lot of members and submissions enough to the gallery but otherwise it's pretty quiet around here. So...

I guess this is me asking if there is any interest in a contest. I would need someone to help judge and offers for prizes but if you guys are up for it so am I! So what do you say?

To celebrate our 6 month anniversary I decided to try and whip us up some new members and recognitiion so I posted a news article about the group!

I went back through some of the submissions that had expired that people had previously attempted to submit to the group. I am sort of in charge of the place and due to life the group had fallen into a sort of unofficial hiatus. If I asked you to submit your lyrics chances are you had already submitted the request a while ago and it never got accepted at this time

I sent it July 27th, and I've only had 1 reply since from all of our affiliates...so I'm thinking some of the notes didn't go through :X

Ah well, the info is in this blog. The contest is titled "Past, Present, Future: A Collaboration Project". It's open to All deviants of the written word, so anyone is welcome to participate. All the instructions on how to enter are listed in the blog. Deadline to apply is August 15th (so about a week from now). However, if we don't have a good amount of participants, the deadline is likely to be pushed further. The more people we can get, the more fun this contest will be ^^ We're also looking for more prize donations (anything and everything will be accepted).

If you have anything going on in #THE-PERFECT-STORM that you want mentioned in our next article feel free to send a note and I'll happily post it for you :D
